Above is a draft of the Design Brief I’ve done which outlines what I will be doing. There’s a lot of random annotations, comments and questions - don’t worry about them if you decide to download and take a look at it! They are for my teacher haha. This guy isn’t real, I just made up those contact details and such to make it more realistic hehe! For our school project, we have to describe we basically have to make up a client (Michael Kim) and describe what he or she wants (Korean Restaurant) In this case, with this Brief, I have to describe information about Michael Kim - just made up some stuff haha and why he wants to create a Korean Restaurant, the types of audience it will attract etc. There’s a bit of background info about him to… We have to describe what he wants with this restaurant and the things he wants in the restaurant.
There are some bits I disagree with in this design brief, in terms of the audiences’ ages but it’s ok. If my teacher prefers that, I will stick with it hehe.
So with Design, there’s a process and this is just the very beginning! There’s the process of:
[Taken from Kristen Guthrie 2008 Visual Communication and Design VCE Units 1-4 Second Ed]
- The Design Brief - Describes the design problem - the communication need.
Provides information about the initiator - the client.
Described who the product is for - the audience.
Explains how the product will be used - the purpose of it and the context.
Identifies constraints and limitations. - Research - Collection and analysis of information, images, and data about the product, the audience, trends, and developments. Includes information and materials to inspire concepts.
- Generation of ideas
Sketches and design concepts based on research and inspirational material. - Development of Ideas
Application of different media, materials and methods and of design elements and principles to develop concepts. - Refinement of Ideas Expanding best concepts and refining ideas that meet the brief. Preparing for final presentation.
- Mock-up
- Final Presentation
I am on step #1 hahaha.
This piece of document is worth 20 marks out of the total 100. The portfolio that will pretty much have steps 2-4 is worth 60 marks, and another 20 marks is for the final presentation. Now that I think about it, this subject takes a lot of time, if you want to do a decent job. :(
& “도시락” (Dosirak) is the name of the meal/lunch pack that is, I guess, similar to the Japanese Bento Box! I didn’t know this before!

myunny asked: Oh, you've definitely helped! ^^ As for me, I'm just casually learning: listening to music and trying to know some basic vocabulary. I'm afraid that if I go out and try to study-STUDY, I'll have an impulse in buying a lot of textbooks. I'd like to try it in a class setting, but there's none where I live (and even if there is, I can't afford that kind of thing). Even with the small effort I've been doing, I'm happy that I could name some things in Korean. And I can't wait to see what you post! :)
Ahh glad you find it somewhat helpful! Ohhh yeah, impulse buying :O I pretty much impulse-bought a Korean text book a year ago…..and I’m still not even half way through the book LOL T_T but yeah, I think it’s because the textbook I bought seriously lacks exercises :( Ohh yeah and if there are any Korean people you know, let them know you’re interested in Korean haha! I don’t know any Koreans where I live, and there’s like none at school so it’s pretty sad! & good luck and most importantly have fun learning hehehe
myunny asked: I'm glad that you're still dedicated into learning Korean because I know that I'm not right now. I tend to have a phase of doing nothing and then a sudden burst of energy and then I'm motivated to learning ALL the Korean. (that's deifnitely not a good thing and I'm wondering what you do to stop it?) Anyway, I'm also here to say good luck on your project! It sounds pretty cool. Will you put some photos up here when you're done? O:
Ohhh, I think I’ve been in your situation, except not with Korean or languages, but with Maths. hahaha. At times I completely do nothing, and then at other times I’m all pumped and motivated and I go out and *try* to learn everything I need. LOOOL but yeah, I can say that has lead to nowhere and I’m still not great at understanding Math. …….:(
What do I do to stop it? and “ALL” the Korean? :OOO Hahaha you must have so much energy during those times! But I’d probably say that you should break your energy into pieces, ‘cause for me if I think I tried learning a lump of Korean in one go, I would barely remember anything. But it depends, if you think you are learning/improving with this! At those times, do you just learn by studying…as in the writing-take-note-type of study? :OO
But yeah, for me to stop that kind of phase of doing nothing, then doing everything…I’d have to say to myself that I’m learning so little for how much time and effort I put into it. LOL. And then I’d be all sad, and eventually stop it.
Although I have not study-studied for awhile…xD I haven’t been able to stop or put on hold watching Dramas and movies and listening to them…also listening to Korean music. Like, I may have not been improving with writing and stuff like that, but at least the Dramas/movies/music has helped me with listening! xDDD
Ohh, thank you so much for your luck, I appreciate it! Yes, I definitely will! Whether it turns out disappointing or great! Hopefully it will be the latter LOL. We’ve just started so I haven’t done too much so far, but I’ll definitely post stuff as I work on it. :D & if you end up having opinions/feedback/recommendations to improve the things I post, just let me know! Hahaha
Sorry for the long reply, and I don’t think I gave much help! :(

I have not updated very much lately. (Last post…Jan 6th? That’s like a light-year away! ) I’m sorry. :( I really would like to get back into studying Korean but, yes, due to school, I haven’t had much time. I prefer Korean over all my other subjects but priorities are priorities. I wish I had Korean as one of my subjects!
I would like to get back into writing a couple of posts soon, maybe next week or something like that. The sooner the better! All you guys must be studying much more than me though. :D
Yellow Notebook
Korean language posts that I have re-blogged. There’s so many! Check it out!
Bibimbap!
어제 점심은 맛있는 돌솥비빔밥을 먹었어요. 진짜 돌솥비빔밥을 맛있어요.
Yesterday for lunch, I ate some tasty Dolsot Bibimbap. Dolsot Bibimbap is delicious.
I had some Bibimbap for lunch yesterday! I love this restaurant, their Bibimbap is good. @_@ Especially since it’s in a stone pot. I now know that using a stone pot seriously does make a great difference… I also really like their Jjampong! The workers, I think are more friendly too compared to the other Korean restaurant I visited.
Sometimes I have been trying to say little bits and pieces in Korean and I think they understand what I say! But the lady spoke too fast for me when she spoke to me, it was too fast haha and I misheard what she said. I just replied with, “아니요” ㅠㅠ I later realized that she asked, “한국어를 공부해요?” the minute I left. I hope she remembers me next time I visit, so I can tell her I can correct myself and say I’m trying to learn Korean. :D
It feels really awkward trying to speak it with someone…lol but this is the closest I get to speaking with a native. I have to make the most of it hahaha
Anyway back to the Bibimbap. I didn’t love Bibimbap at first, it was okay, but I didn’t love it. But now I do! It tastes so much better in a stone pot too! I’ll probably order some Jjampong next time, or try something new. I should learn more Korean as well…
Photos! 여기에 사진있어요!

I really like it when eggs are have a more yellow/orange-yellow yolk. I don’t like eating pale-colored egg yolks. It tastes better! …Ok I just searched it up and the reason why some eggs have a richer color in yolk is that the Hen probably had a less restricted diet, she didn’t just eat chicken feeds. Probably free-range as well and less stressed out. A little random hehe.
